Storage of Capacitor

For capacitor, lots of parameters are closely related to temperature. Therefore, the use and storage of capacitors should be noted that the impact of temperature. According to 62391-1 © IEC:2006(E), some specification about storage are explicitly stated.

1. Storage at high temperature

1.1The measurements prescribed in the relevant specification shall be made.

1.2The capacitors shall be subjected to Test Ba of IEC 60068-2-2, using the following severities:

–temperature : upper categoery temperature;

–duration:96 h ± 4 h.

1.3 After recovery for at least 16 h, the measurements prescribed in the relevant specification shall be made

2 Storage at low temperautee

2.1 The measurements prescribed in the relevant specification shall be made.

2.2 The capacitors shall be subjected to test Ab of IEC 60068-2-1.  The capacitors shall be stored at -40℃ for either period of 4 h after thermal stability has been reached, or for 16 h, whichever is the shorter period.

2.3 After recovery for at least 16 h, the measurements prescribed in the relevant specification shall be made.

NOTE: these specifications are applicabled for kinds of capcaitors, like electrolytic capacitor , super capacitor  high voltage capacitor.
